Welcome to the University Living Lab!

The University Living Lab is developing the University of Manchester campus as a site for applied teaching and research around sustainability and low carbon. This site provides a platform for collaboration between researchers, students, external sustainability stakeholders and the Directorate of Estates and Facilities to deploy and monitor new technologies and services in real world settings.

On this site you can find people, courses and projects relating to specific research areas. The opportunities tab is regularly updated with opportunities to work with the Estates Directorate and sustainability stakeholders in Greater Manchester, many of which are associated with the £1 billion relocation of the North Campus. It also hosts an application form for proposing projects to them. Other tabs at the top of the screen provide case studies of existing projects, news and updates, as well as more academic resources relating to the Living Lab approach.

Please email us at livinglabs@manchester.ac.uk if you have any feedback or would like to be added to our database.

The University Living lab initiative has been generously funded by the University of Manchester Research Institute and the Higher Education Innovation Fund.
