Prof Liz Sheffield

My research concerns mosses, liverworts and ferns in both natural and artificial environments. I am very interested in the reproductive processes of non-flowering plants, sporing behaviour in particular. Several current projects relate to conservation, including work on the environmental impact of herbicides.

Prof Jonathan Lloyd

I currently lead a multidisciplinary geomicrobiology group working at the interface between biology and geology. Our research focuses on the mechanisms of microbial metal reduction, with emphasis on the environmental impact and biotechnological applications of metal-reducing bacteria. Current activities are supported by funds from NERC, BBSRC, EPSRC, the EU and industry.

Dr Jason Dortch

I have focused my research on the Quaternary geology, geomorphology, and tectonics of mountain belts at high latitude and high altitude. I am particularly concerned with quantifying the timing and rates of landscape evolution in these regions to understand the interplay between internal (tectonic) and external (surface) processes.
