Dr Gale Raj-Reichert

My research interests are on the governance of global production networks. More specifically, I have researched on how governance over health and safety in the computer global production network are implemented in Penang, Malaysia. I focus on private governance systems such as standards and codes of conduct implemented by firms and how government agencies (and government regulation) and civil society actors shape, contest and influence governance outcomes in global production networks.

Global climate change is resulting in changing weather patterns. For the UK, it is predicted that we will get warmer wetter winters and hotter drier summers. At the same time, there will be an increase in the frequency of extreme weather, including periods of droughts and heat waves, but also more storms and floods. This, combined with growing demand for food across the world, means that agriculture is facing unprecedented challenges. The crops used by farmers will have to change.

Dr James Rothwell

I am interested in the stores, behaviour, fate and transport of pollutants in the environment. Much of my work addresses the hydrological and biogeochemical processes that affect trace metal and nutrient cycling. I work in a range of systems including peat bogs, forests and urban environments. My research involves, catchment scale process work, laboratory and field experiments, analysis of spatial and temporal monitoring data, and GIS/statistical modelling.
