Dr Prasenjit Banerjee

My research is motivated by interdependencies between human behaviour and mechanisms/institutions designed for environmental protection. I do game theoretic modelling and experimental work.My work includes conservation and management of natural resources, behavioural impact on environmental policies, designing mechanism/institutionfor environmental protection, and environmental regulation. I also look at philosophical and behavioural underpinnings of valuation of environmental goods.

Dr Mohammad Rahman

I am primarily interested in plant physiology in terms of plants’ responses and interactions with the environment. I am especially keen to work on gas-exchange (photosynthesis, respiration and transpiration) and also resource-use efficiency across environmental gradients.

While doing my PhD I have investigated the effect of urban trees on adapting our cities to the urban heat island by measuring their growth and transpiration across environmental gradients. I have also attempted to carry out comparative ecophysiological studies on simulated changed climatic scenarios.

Dr Joe Ravetz

Joe Ravetz is a leading thinker on sustainable futures for urban and regional development, and the methods and tools which are needed to help make the transition. His landmark study ‘City-Region 2020 – integrated planning for a sustainable environment’ provides new insights and new pathways, drawing on a major case study of the long-term future of a large conurbation.

Dr Jennifer O'Brien

My interdisciplinary research is concerned with questions of health and disease, and healthcare access and delivery within marginalised communities in both the developing and developed world. I have a particular interest in maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, older peoples health, therapeutic landscapes and social constructions of health and lifestyle in the broadest sense.

Prof Erik Swyngedouw

Over the past two decades, I have published several books and over a hundred research papers in leading journals in the broader fields of political economy, political ecology, and urban theory and culture. My aim is to bring politically explicit yet theoretically and empirically grounded research that contributes to the practice of constructing a more genuinely humanising geography.
