One of the University's growing number of Sustainability Enthusiasts. Find out more about the initiative here.

Janine’s research is focused on understanding the genetic basis of several human disorders in order to improve understanding of the underlying biological pathways. Ultimately, this may identify potential biomarkers or indicate targets for improved intervention and treatment strategies. This research focusses on both complex and Mendelian disorders, including autism, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (myositis), myasthenia gravis and inherited retinal dystrophies. Some of this research has required involvement in large international consortia, with collective access to significant numbers of patient samples and extensive technological infrastructure.
