Waste co-ordinator for the University. Leads a number of initiatives including 'Bin the Bin', WRAP's half waste to landfill to address construction waste, toner cartridges scheme, Hug Mug, Furniture4Resuse.

"The University has a Sustainable Waste Plan and is committed to the development of sustainable waste management practices and the principles of reduce, re-use and recycle throughout the organisation.

We will work to adopt the principle of waste minimisation across all activities: re-use or recover resources wherever possible and provide appropriate recycling schemes and facilities for the collection of priority waste streams – batteries, cans, cardboard, glass, metals, paper products, plastic bottles, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and wood.

Our current waste contract with Enterprise Manchester Ltd aims to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill to a minimum. As a result, over 90% of general/residual* waste we produce is now diverted from landfill using various waste treatment technologies used by our contractors (MBT/AD).

In addition, we collect and recycle numerous waste streams across the campus - see our series of short videos which illustrate how we recycle various waste streams."
