Summary

This report addresses the impact green spaces have on wellbeing outcomes as part of a wider discussion regarding the sustainable development of society and space. Increasing urbanization and associates social issues are being recognised, and thus this report reviews the role green spaces could have in somewhat mitigating this issue. Green space is recognised for its capacity as a therapeutic landscape and as becoming a a site which hosts so many wellbeing promoting mechanisms. However green space is also been shown to also become a site which exacerbates and materializes socio-environmental injustices.

Most importantly, this report recognises a need for studies within this area of discussion to view green space more holistically due to a recognition for the interactions between wellbeing mechanisms, something which is ignored within current discourse through studies focusing on wellbeing mechanisms isolation. This recognises the individual roles of green space services, but also recognises some services being a product of a parallel green space services, or as significant when performed in combination with other green services. This report collated a large breadth of research, but also recognises a need for further study; refocused with a less individually-based lens.
